Cotton Bowl sells out in record time
DALLAS Less than 24 hours after issuing invitations to Missouri and Arkansas for the 72nd Cotton Bowl, the New Year's Day football game is officially sold out.
Both the Tiger and Razorback ticket offices announced today that their allotment has been sold. The Cotton Bowl declared that general tickets sold through the game's ticket office were sold out immediately following Sunday?s pairings announcement.
The Cotton Bowl will be nationally televised on FOX, and kickoff is set for 10:40 a.m. on Jan. 1.
Much of the excitement surrounding the game can be attributed to the matchup of Heisman candidates. Missouri quarterback Chase Daniel leads the No. 6-ranked Tigers against Arkansas, led by last year's Heisman runner-up and Doak Walker Award winner, running back
Darren McFadden.
The Tigers (11-2), the Big 12 North Division champions, are making their first trip to the Cotton Bowl since 1946 (Texas 40, Missouri 27). Arkansas (8-4) is making its 11th appearance in the Cotton Bowl and its first since 2002, when the Hogs fell to Oklahoma, 10-3.
The Tigers and Razorbacks last met in the 2003
Independence Bowl, with Arkansas winning 27-14.
