Tony Romo Leads Dallas Cowboys Past Carolina Panthers
Tony Romo threw for 257 yards and a touchdown, Marion Barber III rushed for 110 yards and a TD, and the Cowboys defense limited the Panthers offense to just 216 yards as Dallas beat Carolina 20-13 to stay in line for home-field throughout the NFC playoffs.
Tony Romo and Terrell Owens hooked up on a 10-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter and Dallas boosted their lead to 14-0 in the second when Barber scored from 6-yards out. Carolina answered on their next drive as Matt Moore found Steve Smith in the corner of the endzone as the Panthers pulled within seven but Nick Folk kicked a 42-yard field goal before the end of the half and Dallas was back in front by ten.
Carolina looked like they would tie the score on their first drive of the second half but after getting down to the Cowboys 1-yard line they got pushed back on a false start penalty and Moore was sacked twice and they had to settle for a John Kasay field goal.
The Panthers would get only one more field goal the rest of the game and the Cowboys had to settle for a field goal in the fourth but it was enough to boost their record to 13-2 on the season and will clinch home field advantage with a Green Bay Packers loss or a win in their final regular season game next week.
